Chloroform is a colourless clear
mobile liquid that has an ethereal odour and sweet burning taste.

Uses
|
It is used to produce
chlorodifluoromethane, a refrigerant and propellant. It is also used in the manufacture of
fluorocarbon plastics, and as a solvent. Chloroform is an intermediate in the preparation of dyes,
drugs, pesticides, and can be used as a fumigant and insecticide. It is also an ingredient in drugs and
cosmetics.
