It is a colourless,
photoreactive liquid with a chloroform odour.

Uses
|
TCE is used in metal
degreasing and as an extraction solvent for oils, fats, waxes. It is used in the manufacturing of
decaffeinated coffee, spice oleoresins; and can be used as a solvent for
cellulose esters and ethers. It
is a coomon drycleaning agent. TCE is used in dyeing, and in the manufacturing of organic chemicals,
pharmaceuticals, and insecticides.
